With all of the excitement about this week's Transformers: Dark of the Moon release, it's important not to forget the other lunar-themed film hitting theaters this summer: Apollo 18. The Weinstein brothers may have delayed the premiere of this found-footage-horror flick six months but that doesn't mean it is necessarily bad, right? Take a look at the second official trailer and see for yourself.
Like Dark of the Moon, Apollo 18 is about the government cover-up of a mission to the moon. Unlike Dark of the Moon, Shia LaBeouf and personable Chevrolet Camaros are not available to fight this intergalactic war. It's just a few fun-loving astronauts (they videotape each other snoring!) who land on the moon... notice a few Soviet footprints... and run from an unidentified creature/person Super 8-style? I'm not quite sure. It's a mystery -- one the Weinsteins clearly have little faith in.
Verdict: I'll just wait for the presumably-delayed DVD release.
