· Bryan Cranston is officially everywhere. Not only does he appear in Larry Crowne, the upcoming Drive, and Total Recall (plus the new season of Breaking Bad, which debuts in July), but the three-time Emmy winner has also signed on for Argo. He'll play an Irish CIA agent from Boston (obviously) in the Ben Affleck-directed Iranian hostage thriller, which already has Alan Arkin, John Goodman and Affleck himself in the cast. Nice roster of talent right there. [Variety]
· Take this with a grain of salt, but: Once director John Carney told the Sunday Post Business Online that Scarlett Johansson has agreed to play the lead in his new film Can A Song Save Your Life?, from executive producer Judd Apatow. Song follows a struggling singer who falls for an A&R guy at the end of his rope. "I went out to Los Angeles to meet Scarlett a couple of months ago," Carney told the Post Business. "She was everything you could imagine -- very hot, elegant and she's really smart." If this all comes together, Carney says that Johansson will do plenty of singing in the finished production. · The always-wonderful Allison Janney has been cast in Struck By Lightning, the new indie coming-of-age film written by and starring Glee star Chris Colfer. Some pretty interesting spoilers: the comedy will be told in flashback form after the lead teen (Colfer) is killed by a lightning strike at the beginning of the film. Guess that title is pretty literal. [Variety]
· If it's Wednesday, it's time to add another cast member to the call sheet of Savages. Twilight actress Mia Maestro has joined the Oliver Stone-directed film as the wife of Benicio Del Toro. [THR]
· Remember Dev Patel? The Slumdog Millionaire star -- last (not) seen in The Last Airbender -- has been added to the growing cast of More As This Story Develops, the HBO pilot from Aaron Sorkin. If the show gets picked up for series, Patel will become a regular. [Variety]
· Let's end The Broadsheet the way it started: with news about a Breaking Bad actor. Giancarlo Esposito has been cast opposite Tyler Perry, Matthew Fox, Edward Burns and Jean Reno in I, Alex Cross. [Press Release via Coming Soon]
