What Movie Character Helped Inspire Lady Gaga's Pop Persona?

I knew Lady Gaga's gig as a columnist for V magazine meant an incessant (though impressive) wave of art references and pop culture musings, but I didn't know she'd so deftly cross into Movieline territory when explaining her rock persona. In her premiere outing as a V contributor, the leotard aficionado mentions an unforgettable cinematic heroine who helped inspire her "panache." Is it Scarlett O'Hara? Blanche DuBois? Breathless Mahoney? Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory's Violet Beauregarde? Click through for the reveal.

According to the column (which is something of a scroll), Gaga considers a certain Vegas vixen her muse.

"I would dream of being a rock star who dressed like Mark Bolan, walked like Jerry Hall, and had the panache of Ginger from Casino and the mystery of Isabella Blow."

Yes, Lady Gaga just name-dropped Ginger McKenna Rothstein, Sharon Stone's Oscar-nominated role in Casino. Here's a killer clip of Robert De Niro studying the dame in question, who decides to play 52-Pickup with a few racks of chips. Is Lady Gaga her rightful heir? Or did you expect something more along the lines of my inspirations, like Madeline Kahn in Clue or Jafar from Aladdin?
