Keanu Reeves Rumored for Akira
Take this for what it's worth, but it looks like Keanu Reeves and Warner Bros. have been discussing the possibility of the former Matrix star leading the massively budgeted (and already controversial) adaptation of Akira. THR reports that no offers have been made, but talks between Reeves and the studio are "going well." [THR/Heat Vision]

Wasn't this a rumor a year ago as well?
Because nothing screams Japanese teen like Keanu Reeves.
If it keeps him from playing Spike Spiegel and making an abortion of a Cowboy Bebop adaptation, then I'm all for Keanu doing Akira. It's not like American Akira ever had a chance of not sucking.
I don't like the idea of white guys in the lead, but ...
if you're going to cast a white guy, Keanu would be the way to go. I can't think of anyone else, though.
This is offensive because the role of Akira soooo belongs to Ken Jeong.
Of course, nothing screams for Keanu Reeves quite like Japanese teens, so...
