Jackie Cooper, Superman Boss and Oscar-Caliber Kid Star, Dead at 88

jackie_cooper300.jpgJackie Cooper, who played Daily Planet editor Perry White in Christopher Reeve's Superman movies, died Tuesday at a Beverly Hills hospital of a sudden illness. He was 88.

The onetime kid actor remains the youngest person ever to be nominated for the Best Actor Oscar, thanks to his role in 1931's Skippy. Cooper also garnered Emmys for directing episodes of M*A*S*H* and The White Shadow. [TMZ]

I must be old, because I can remember begging my parents to let me stay up to watch Hennesey. As I remember, it came on at 10:30pm and I too often fell asleep before it was over, but I loved Jackie Cooper and Abby Dalton. It's a shame there is no home video of this show, and apparently won't be, ever.
