All movie-related Twitter memes deserve Movieline's utmost attention, and this new one is a head-scratcher. "#Tragicmoviedeaths" is the tag, and Twitter's users apparently have varied definitions of cinema's saddest cinematic deaths. Says one user, "Vivica Fox's Dog On Fools Fall In love." Says another, "the f*cking baby in pet semetary ):" And says the esteemed "UltraLinx": "Justin Bieber.......wait it hasn't happened yet, but it WILL. RT if you hope so ;)." Good lord! Let's list a few legitimate responses and a couple more of Twitter's insane suggestions.
Sure, the obvious answers are Shelby in Steel Magnolias, Emma in Terms of Endearment or Jack in Titanic (or, my choice, Karen in Ordinary People), but I like Twitter's version of tragedy better. Look at these five winners.
@MikeThraxon: #tragicmoviedeaths Anybody who died in 28 Days Later, 28 Weeks Later, Resident Evil, Scream, Halloween, Nightmare On Elm Street, and Jason
@Fxckyuimdoinme: #tragicmoviedeaths Janet Jackson's husband in Why Did I Get Married Too?
@K_D_McClelland: #tragicmoviedeaths Samuel L. Jackson in Deep Blue Sea... probably best he exited that crappy movie ASAP.
@acole457: #tragicmoviedeaths Passion of the Christ (even though Jesus lived)
@Barbie_Wndly: #tragicmoviedeaths Selena! in real-life and on the movie......
Oh, Twitter. I can't believe I killed my best friend either.
