According to Variety, the film -- tentatively titled Woody Allen: A Documentary -- will air in two 90-minute sections on PBS this fall, and chronicle the making of and release of 2010's underwhelming You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger, along with peeks inside Allen's home. Though with all that it includes, the documentary still only scratches the surface. Said Weide:
"The prolific nature of Woody's output has provided me with an embarrassment of riches. Even with three hours at my disposal I feel the heartbreak of all the things I have to leave out. In fact, Woody will have made three features just in the time it's taken me to make this one documentary."
As you may recall, Allen played a documentary filmmaker in Crimes and Misdemeanors -- one who went so far as to juxtapose shots of his subject with Benito Mussolini. Here's guessing Weide will be a bit kinder.
