Duncan Jones Discussing The Wolverine Directing Job with Fox?

No offense to David Slade or Robert Schwentke, but this is how you get a fanbase excited again for The Wolverine: Over the weekend in London, Source Code director Duncan Jones said he has met with Twentieth Century Fox about replacing Darren Aronofsky at the helm of the Adamantium-covered next chapter in the X-Men franchise. Whether he takes over, however, remains to be seen.

According to a tipster to Ain't It Cool News, Jones said he was only taking the meeting with Fox to "be polite" and that he wasn't necessarily interested in taking over such a high profile blockbuster. Too bad! Though at least that line of thinking somewhat jives with what Jones told our own Jen Yamato during the press tour for Source Code:

I really am going to take a break from the genre. There are other kinds of films that I want to make. It's a big old world though, sci-fi. I must admit, people kind of know me for sci-fi but I was just as passionate and into fantasy. So one day I hope to do a bit of that, too.

The Wolverine isn't sci-fi, of course, but comic book films and science fiction do share some DNA. Regardless, don't hold your breath waiting for Jones to take this job -- if he even gets an offer.
