Breaking: Charlie Sheen Wanted to Crash the Oscars

Bad news, guys. That Oscar telecast two Sundays ago -- that was completely devoid of any excitement, controversial gay kisses or host charm -- could have been a disaster, of the interesting variety, if Charlie Sheen had executed the Academy Award takeover plan he outlined to an NBC producer.

While negotiating with Sheen to appear on Today, NBC booking producer Katie Distler tells Mediate that the (former?) Two and a Half Men lead originally wanted to just do interviews with ABC. Why? Because the network was airing the ill-fated Oscar telecast and Sheen planned to hijack the network entirely -- including the Academy Award ceremony.

Unfortunately for ABC and telecast viewers, Distler ended up talking the actor out of his highjacking plan and getting him to appear on NBC.

Tragedy! How do you think the actor would have taken control of the Oscars? Ideas welcome in the comment section below.
