'Good Evening': Anthony Hopkins To Star In Hitchcock Biopic?
The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Sir Anthony Hopkins, best known as Hannibal Lecter and, of course as Tom Cruise's boss in Mission: Impossible 2, is in talks to play the similarly creepy Master of Suspense, Alfred Hitchcock. The movie will detail the struggles that Hitchcock went through to make Psycho, a film that many thought would capsize his career. Sacha Gervasi, helmer of the documentary Anvil! The Story of Anvil, is in talks to direct. I think Anthony Hopkins could make a great Hitchcock, so long as he starts packing on the pounds. Sir Tony is a pretty slight fella, and Hitchcock was one of our more porcine directors. Just a thought! [THR]

It would be dangerous if someone of Hopkin's age gained weight dramatically just for a movie role. I'd prefer the weight to be done via makeup/prosthetics just so we can have Hopkins with us as long as possible.
Well, if Hopkins does decide to put on the weight, there's a dietitian who does something with liver, fava beans and a nice chianti.
Hitchcock actually appears in Psycho (like most his movies) and he wasn't obese at that point in his life. And Anthony Hopkins slight? Have you seen him stretching his priestly garb in The Rite photos? He might be a whopping 20 pounds off Hitch's weight. The more disturbing issue is that Hitch was 60 when he filmed Psycho and Hopkins is currently 73 and looks 83! Due to his big fat head, Hitch looked to be in his 50s for about 50 years of his life.
What KEVYB said but you also didn't mention the project is based on the book Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho, written by Stephen Rebello, who also wrote the screenplay. Rebello wrote many of the best Movieline cover stories when you were a real magazine. Why would you not want to mention that?
