Spider-Man Musical Now Scheduled to Open on the Ides of March and 6 Other Stories You'll Be Talking About Today

Also in this massive Friday edition of The Broadsheet: Steve Carell is leaving The Office sooner than you think... Adam Sander and Andy Samberg to play father and son... the worst video of a 5-year-old getting their eyebrows waxed that you'll ever watch... and more ahead. Friday!

· You simply cannot make this stuff up. Producers Michael Cohl and Jeremiah J. Harris delayed the opening of Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark for a fourth time on Thursday night "to allow for more time to fine-tune aspects of the show, including the new ending." Said Cohl, "I picked a date in March that allows me to ensure that this will be the final postponement." Uh-huh. The new opening is scheduled for March 15, which is hilarious on multiple levels. Future dates available for the next delay include June 50th and Marchtember Oneteenth. [NYT/ArtsBeat]

· Here's some actual news to come out of the winter Television Critics Association tour: Steve Carell will leave The Office before the season is over. Producer Paul Lieberstein told Alan Sepinwall that the plan is for Carell to leave with four episodes remaining, and for the remainder of the season to be taken up with finding his replacement. Send in your resumes now, folks! [HitFix]

· Speaking of NBC Thursday night comedies: Community is planning a Dungeons & Dragons episode. Because that's what people want to see. [Deadline]

· And speaking of Community (see how this works?): Vulture decided to ask Donald Glover about his thoughts on the first image of Andrew Garfield in Spider-Man. "It's kinda dope. You know what the coolest part of it is? He has a backpack, which I think is sick. The part of Spider-Man I always loved [is]: He's young, and he's dealing with everybody hating him and he's got all this weight on his shoulders. [The backpack] reminds you of how young he is." Now you know. [Vulture]

· This was bound to happen, but still: Adam Sandler and Andy Samberg will team up for I Hate You Dad, a new comedy about a father (Sandler) who moves in with his son (Samberg) on the eve of his son's wedding. Forget Michelle Pfeiffer; I don't want to live in a world where Adam Sandler is old enough to play Andy Samberg's dad. [THR]

· Terry Rossio will return to write the fifth installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, thus insuring that we'll probably be discussing Pirates films until the end of time. [Deadline]

· It's Friday, so let's close out The Broadsheet with this video of a 5-year-old getting her eyebrows waxed on Toddlers and Tiaras. You're welcome. [TV Squad]

  • TurdBlossom says:

Cohl and Harris need to throw in the towel already and call it a day with their ill advised Spidey musical.

  • Mother's Little Helper says:

Just rename the damned thing to A Shot in the Dark and pretend that Inspector Clouseau is causing all the mishaps.

  • G says:

I don't want to live in a world where Adam Sandler is still in movies.
