First Picture of Andrew Garfield in Spider-Man Suit: Peter Ponderer

The first still of Andrew Garfield in his slick Spider-Man suit is an intense and/or melancholic one; so far he's staying just on this side of Spider-Man 3-level sads. What's he thinking about? His 28-inch waist? How annoying it is to fit a ragamuffin haircut through the neck hole? At any rate, the suit fits. I'm on board. Click ahead for the full image.

28 inch waist? Did this guy go through puberty yet?

  • Louis Virtel says:

I don't know for fact -- just assuming. Look at those damn hips.

I don't understand the comments that he looks too young. Looking too young is never going to be Garfield's problem in this movie. He's a 27-year-old actor playing a 16-year-old high-school kid.

  • Duke Buck says:

Bierce is right on the money. Casting 27 year old British actor Garfield as high school age American teen Peter Parker was ridiculous and insulting to US talent. He'll be in his mid-30s by the time Sony's done with sequels - assuming that the reboot doesn't bomb. As with the outrageous casting of Brit Henry Cavill as Superman, where there no US actors who could have taken the role? Kentucky native Josh Hutcherson (KIDS ARE ALRIGHT, JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH) is 18 and apparently really wanted SPIDERMAN; he would have been a much more appropriate choice than Garfield and would have aged into the part as required. All these Brits playing Americans has gotten completely out of control.

  • B says:

I believe Andrew Garfield deserves this role. Whether he's british or not shouldn't be an argument because talent is talent no matter nationality. I've also heard that he had to lose significant amount of weight for both Never Let Me Go and Spiderman 4.

  • Morgo says:

are you suggesting a 28 inch waist is not both hot and aspirational? that's lying.

  • Fidelio says:

He didn't say it was a bad thing.
But, for the record, not everyone thinks that it's impossible to be too thin. And there are even more people who are turned off by ultra-thinness in men than in women.
