The Great Gatsby in 3-D (?), and 6 Other Stories You'll Be Talking About Today

· For the record, Baz Luhrmann hasn't officially committed to making The Great Gatsby his next project. But! If and when he does, he might also make it in 3-D. Fantastic idea, Baz. Dark, muddy, unnecessary and overpriced: Just like Fitzgerald would have wanted it. Anyway, it's back to bed for me! Have a great day! [THR]

· Jake Gyllenhaal lavished praise upon Natalie Portman at a Palm Springs Film Festival event over the weekend: "Natalie is the Audrey Hepburn of our generation. She is elegant, graceful, has amazing eyebrows ... is talented, really short, funny, smart, dedicated, incredibly kind." Nice. And our generation is like, "Audrey who?" Also, Hepburn made only seven films after her 35th birthday, so let's not cling too tightly to that comparison. [People]

· Keith Richards's autobiography Life has been out for a while (and heavily endorsed by your friendly Movieline staff), but this is the first I'd read of Richards smacking down Jean-Luc Godard and his 1968 Rolling Stones documentary Sympathy For the Devil: "Godard up until then made very well-crafted, almost Hitchcockian work. Mind you, it was one of those years when anything was flyable. Whether it would actually take off was another thing. I mean, why, of all people, would Jean-Luc Godard be interested in a minor hippie revolution in England and try to translate it into something else? I think somebody slipped him some acid and he went into that phony year of ideological overdrive." [Looker]

· You've heard this before, but just in case you think Ron Howard forgot: No, he's not directing an Arrested Development movie, but yes, there will likely be one "sooner rather than later." [ComingSoon]

· Here's some stock-car-looking vehicle from Transformers 3. Don't mention it. [Inside Line via JoBlo]

· Does the new Showtime series Shameless have a class problem? [Shameless]

· Annnnd finally, here's Whoopi Goldberg foreseeing the weekend's tragedy in Arizona while Dame Edna looks on. The crucial passage is around 3:40. Weird, compelling, eerie, etc. [via @edgarwright]

Jumbling all those headlines together in my mind got me super excited for the prospect of Transformers 3D directed by Jean Luc Godard.
    Sigh.
