Someone Thinks PETA Supporter Lea Michele is 'Filled with Lies' and 6 Other Stories You'll Be Talking About Today

LeaMichele225.jpgAlso in this Friday edition of The Broadsheet: Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann will play married once again for Judd Apatow... Gwyneth Paltrow loves being drunk... Eminem returns to acting... and more ahead.

· Noted animal activist Lea Michele has teamed with PETA before, but never did her endorsements start such controversies. After leading a campaign for the animal rights group against horse-drawn carriages in New York City, the Glee star is under fire. "She doesn't even know," a representative for the Horse and Carriage Association of NYC told Hollywood Life. "Her recent video that she put up is just filled with lies." In the video in question (which you can watch below) Michele cites awful living conditions for the horses, but the Horse and Carriage Association disagrees. "My stable, which houses 76 horses, has automatic drinkers, oscillating fans, and sprinkler systems on them for the summer time." Not to pull a Fox News here, but you decide. [Hollywood Life]

· Enough about alleged animal cruelty; it's Friday! How's this for some cool news? The next Judd Apatow film will feature Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann reprising their roles as Pete and Debbie from Knocked Up. As the director told Drew McWeeny, "It is neither [a prequel or a sequel]. It is just a story from Pete and Debbie's current life. People really responded to their characters and problems. I felt like there was a lot of ground I could explore with them, so we'll be shooting in July and will come out the following June." Yes, yes, yes, yes. [HitFix]

· I'm country stroooooooooooong. Oh, sorry, you're still here. So, how did Gwyneth Paltrow prepare to play a mostly drunk country singer in Country Strong? "You just get really drunk all the time. Which is awesome!" she told Rachel Ray. "At least I did anyway, it's not very professional. There's a Bloody Mary at 10 a.m. and keeps it going all day!" Acting! [Huffington Post]

· Rapper Eminem is apparently signed on to star in Random Acts of Violence for 20th Century Fox. The film -- which is like some combination of The Departed, The Town and the video game Grand Theft Auto -- would be the best-selling artist's first lead role since 8 Mile. Though, don't forget, he was the best part of Funny People. Well, him and Aubrey Plaza. [Vulture]

· Wrath of the Titans, the sequel to 2010's Clash of the Titans, has offered a role to Carlos star Edgar Ramirez. Cash in, Ed! [Deadline]

· The stupidest casting/development story is usually one that deals with which stars are on a studio's shortlist for a specific film project. It's like, "Who cares? Wake me when you cast someone," amirite? With that in mind, The Wrap reports that Andy Samberg and Johnny Knoxville are on 20th Century Fox's shortlist to star in The Three Stooges. Wake me when you cast someone. [The Wrap]

· Let's end this sucker with the most absurd Twilight-themed back tattoo you'll ever see on a 49-year-old woman. [Badass Digest]

PETA has claimed the career of more dopey young starlets than meth and Scientology COMBINED!

  • Mother's Little Helper says:

Someone needs to alert PETA to the tragedy unfolding on the back of that 49-year-old woman.

  • TurdBlossom says:

I say we send it to the glue factory (Lea Michele, not the horse).

Thanks! I needed a good laugh today.

Except they're not lies. The situation can be that awful, especially for NYC horses. PETA is an often extremist and laughable organization, but this issue is pretty spot on and using it as an excuse to mock someone willing to speak out about it, i.e. Lea, instead of actually paying attention to her message, is pretty classless.
