Clash of the Titans, Jessica Alba Lead 2011 Razzie Shortlist

jessica_alba_120.jpgIt's not really awards season until the Razzies rear their terrible-movie-loving head. And so now they have, with such ripe fare as Clash of the Titans, The Last Airbender, The Expendables, Jonah Hex and Yogi Bear shortlisted for Worst Movie honors. A new, "Worst Eye-Gouging Misuse of 3-D" category recognized Piranha 3-D and The Nutcracker in 3-D as well. Jessica Alba, meanwhile, has earned Worst Actress consideration for four titles in 2010, including Machete, Little Fockers, The Killer Inside Me and Valentine's Day. Congratulations to Ms. Alba! Blue Valentine was snubbed, alas. [Daily Blam]

The Razzies used to slam the worst movies and actors of the year, and they were pretty funny for a few years, then they became somewhat popular and turned into a cry for attention. Instead of picking the worst movies of the year, they nominate the least popular well known movies of the year, which isn't the same thing. Now they nominate mediocre movies and actors that they know will draw attention from the mainstream media, instead of going after the worst films and performances of the year. This is what happens when a bunch of geeks get a little attention.

Got my ballot last night. I'm drumming up a Razzie campaign for (against?) "The Bounty Hunter", but I'm not sure what the ethics are for that sort of thing. And by "ethics" I mean monetary denomination.

  • TurdBlossom says:

Valentine's Day deserves every Razzie or nom it gets and Gary Marshall dserves a lifetime Razzie for releasing this drek onto an unsuspecting public.

  • CiscoMan says:

    Amen.

  • bib fortuna says:

that's the only kind of 'ethics' available in Hollywood.
