Because this is the slowest news week ever, things like British "star" Cheryl Cole topping Ask Jeeves' most searched celebrity list is not only worthy of a blog entry, it's also awesome. Or maybe just to me. Regardless! "This has been the year of Cheryl Cole. She's head and shoulders above any other celebrity subject on our website," said an Ask Jeeves spokeswoman. "The interest shown in her has been phenomenal." Which begs the question: Who is Cheryl Cole?

No, seriously. To be fair, I know she has something to do with X-Factor and I think she's in some Britpop girl group, but otherwise who is she? And why are Ask Jeeves users so interested in her comings and goings? Here's a sample of some of the most asked questions.

That last one is just a statement, but apparently Ask Jeeves let it slide. Meanwhile, regarding my own question -- "why are Ask Jeeves users so interested in her comings and goings?" -- it looks like we have an answer. To stalk her! E-mail addresses. Real life addresses. "What does Cheryl Cole like to do?" Creepy. Hopefully Cole uses her newfound Jeeves fame to hire a throng of bodyguards.
