Man's Best Friend: Elijah Wood and Man-in-Dog-Suit Form Christmas Week's Most Unlikely Match

If you haven't noticed from idly clicking around the Internet today while you were supposed to be working, this week before Christmas is poised to be a slow one. Which is good because you can get your last minute holiday shopping done (cough, Gift Guide), but bad because boring! Thankfully, the teaser for Wilfred has arrived to brighten your day. That it begins with Elijah Wood penning the third (and then fourth) version of his suicide note is of no consequence.

Based on the Australian series of the same name, FX's Wilfred finds Elijah Wood starring as an at-wits-end drone of society who meets the titular dog on the fateful day of his planned suicide. Only, while everyone sees Wilfred as a dog, Wood sees him as a grumpy Australian in a filthy dog suit. Cue hilarity!

No, really. That isn't even sarcastic. Maybe it has a lot to do with the fact that we've reached the end to a pretty bland day, but the teaser trailer Wilfred made me laugh. Like many times. Whether or not you find it funny might depend on your tolerance for men-in-dog-suits, but one thing is inarguable: Between Wilfred and The Beaver, 2011 is poised to be the year of fractured men talking to furry creatures.

VERDICT: You're my best friend.
