Late Night Highlights: Justin Timberlake Wants to Join Saturday Night Live, Seriously

Attention Lorne Michaels: Last night on Lopez Tonight, perennial Saturday Night Live guest star Justin Timberlake admitted that he would love to join the cast for an entire season of the show. This could be the Christmas miracle SNL fans were praying for. Elsewhere, Matt Damon taught David Letterman how to talk funny, Jason Segel fired his 65-year-old dialect coach, Jay Leno and Jimmy Fallon sang Christmas carols, and Amy Sedaris showed Stephen Colbert how to turn dryer lint into art.

5. Matt Damon's Acting Lesson

The True Grit star taught David Letterman how to speak funny by tying a girl's accessory around the tongue. Really.

4. Jay and Jimmy Christmas Sing-Off

Want to see a sad comparison in hosting ability? Both Jay Leno and Jimmy Fallon recorded Christmas numbers on their shows last night. Leno's (first video) was an unfunny gag on the "Twelve Days of Christmas" that was dubbed over by a professional singer; on Late Night, Jimmy Fallon filed another installment (second video) in his impressive live duet series with this "Drunk on Christmas" performance with country star John Rich.

3. A Strangers With Candy Reunion

Last night, Amy Sedaris visited the Colbert Report and showed her old friend some simple crafts for poor people that can be made with dryer lint.

2. Alert Lorne Michaels

Justin Timberlake told George Lopez last night that he would enjoy being a Saturday Night Live cast member for a season.

1. Jason Segel's Circle of Tears

After explaining how he had to halt a table read on his Muppets movie to weep at the sight of Kermit the Frog, Jason Segel told Jay Leno how he had his Gulliver's Travels dialect coach fired for crying to him, and then how he gained 25 pounds in New Orleans.
