Entertainment Weekly is riding the Jake Gyllenhaal/Anne Hathaway live-flesh beat pretty hard this week, unveiling not one, not two, but three separate covers featuring the Love and Other Drugs duo in various nude embraces. Hot stuff! But haven't we seen something like this before somewhere else? (Hint: Yes -- in the same building.)
EW's sister publication Time went with a topless Tom Cruise/Nicole Kidman cover for its July 5, 1999, issue promoting Eyes Wide Shut. The him-and-her cover lines pretty much match, as do the his-and-hers skin tones. Reps for EW didn't respond yet for requests for comment about whether the '99 cover was any kind of influence or inspiration or if the editors were even aware of Time's work -- le scandale!
