As much as we like to take the piss out of them and/or turn their rages into YouTube remixes and the like, no one should ever take Hollywood's stroppiest actors for granted. You know the ones: Moody, temperamental, deeply sensitive and often more candid -- and more aggressive -- than their publicists might recommend. We love them, and we wait for their next outbursts. But how well can we really tell some of the best -- including Christian Bale and Russell Crowe -- apart? Quiz time!
Bale and Crowe (no cheating at the links!) made headlines in recent days for their latest, notably stroppy interactions with the press, just another reminder that while times may change in Hollywood, the stroppy never do. (In fairness to the 3:10 to Yuma co-stars, they were also quite thoughtful and articulate about their work, which is in fact an increasingly rare stroppiness bonus.)
As such, Movieline has assembled a few key quotes from the actors' lips to your ears; can you deduce the speaker for each? (Click "all" below for answers, and leave your scores in the comments...)
1. "I'm famous for making movies. Celebrity just happens to be an unfortunate byproduct of what I do."
2. "Being misunderstood is not a bad thing as an actor. I know the truth."
3. "I do love people ripping the sh*t out of me. I don't know what that's about, but I love it. The more crap you give me, the happier I get."
4. "[T]here's a whole bunch of blank space that's filled in with stuff that fills up pages of your newspapers, which is not real, and you know it's not real, and I know it's not real."
5. "Are you calling me a liar? Am I lying?"
6. "Well, it's embarrassing to be a star. Most people look at you like, "That's not a f*cking job, is it?"
7. "This whole thing has evolved into this massively-organized-to-the-nth-degree, army-on-the-march thing. It's like f*ck me."
8. "If I ever was going to torture somebody, I'd put them in a room where they can't leave and have someone new come in every three minutes and ask the same question over a number of days and then weeks."
9. "I want to be able to just act and never do any interview, but I don't have the balls to stand up to the studio and say, "I'm never doing another interview in my life!' So I tip my hat and go, 'Okay mister! All right mister! I'll go do the salesman job!'"
10. "Some people believe celebrity is a power that should be used. Ultimately, your dollars are more powerful."
