· Let's do the time warp again: Apparently buoyed by the antici...pation for next week's Glee tribute to The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Fox 2000 is talking with Ryan Murphy about possibly directing a remake of the cult classic. Murphy hasn't committed yet, in part because he's looking at a spring start date for The Normal Heart, his adaptation of the Larry Kramer play about AIDS with Mark Ruffalo set to star. [Deadline]
· Goodbye, Amanda Seyfried? Baz Luhrmann was in New York recently to workshop his adaptation of The Great Gatsby with Leonardo DiCarpio, Tobey Maguire and Rebecca Hall. Hall fans shouldn't get too excited though; Luhrmann is apparently hot for Natalie Portman to play the role of Daisy. Because Natalie Portman isn't rumored to star in enough projects already. · Pixar engendered a lot of goodwill when they hired Brenda Chapman to direct Brave, making her the first female director to ever work for the animation company, but now has she been replaced? Cartoon Brew is hearing from "reliable sources" that Mark Andrews will direct Brave, a move that has been in the works for some time. Pixar has yet to comment on the rumored switch. [/Film]
· According to Bloody Disgusting, Anne Hathaway and James Franco are in talks to star in Ridley Scott's Alien prequel. Hathaway joins the aforementioned Natalie Portman, Noomi Rapace and Carey Mulligan on the list of possible Jr. Ripleys. Franco will likely play someone who gets brutally murdered by an alien. [BD]
