The Tiny Furniture Trailer Has Been Living in Ohio for Four Years

When you read that HBO was teaming with Judd Apatow to give writer/director/performer Lena Dunham her very own television series, only one thing probably ran through your mind: Who's Lena Dunham? Allow the new trailer for her South by Southwest hit Tiny Furniture to helpfully provide an answer.

Dunham stars as Aura, a recent college graduate who returns to New York from the prison of the Midwest (Ohio specifically; shiver) to start her life. Only as these things usually go, her post-collegiate ennui involves a lot of navel gazing, uncertainty and older boys. Toss in a rocky relationship with her mother, a wiseacre sister ("I think you sound like you're in the epilogue to Felicity") and the titular tiny furniture and you've certainly arrived at an indie saturation point.

Let's face facts: If you're allergic to twee, Tiny Furniture might look like death warmed over. Thanks to Dunham's ridiculous charm, however, the film seems light, fun and totally funny. Plus, charming. Did I mention that? Jeez. Dunham is like what would happen if Greta Gerwig, Woody Allen and the Duplass Brothers got together to adopt and raise a baby. No wonder Apatow noticed her.

VERDICT: Sold.
