The film takes place in a world where puppets and humans co-exist, and puppets are treated as second class citizens. When the puppet cast of 1980s children's TV show The Happytime Gang starts turning up murdered, a disgraced LAPD detective-turned-private eye puppet with a drinking problem re-teams with his former human partner to crack the case. Sure it sounds a bit like Who Framed Kermit the Frog?, but with so many headlines about comic book adaptations, remakes, reboots, sequels, prequels, and 3-D conversions, I'll take it.
Someone should talk to Clive Owen about playing the human partner - he's got the sardonic, hard-boiled thing down and I'm pretty confident that teaming him up with a puppet would take his acting to a new level.
