Movieline's Week in Review: I Can't Do Nothing For You, Son

It's a hard world. That's the bad news. The good news is that it's Friday -- your much-anticipated opportunity to black out in a post-traumatic haze of drunkenness and hopefully your favorite team winning a baseball game or a football game or whatever. I'm just saying you have options -- starting with a nostalgic browse through Movieline's Week in Review. Drop by this weekend for the smooth Web stylings of Dixon Gaines, and the rest of us will see you Monday!

· We learned how both porn and Lifetime's Jersey Shore knockoff could be much improved.

· A new name and face was on top of the SNL Relevancy Poll -- and it wasn't Bryan Cranston.

· Recaps! Sooooo many recaps, including Mad Men, 30 Rock, Glee, Boardwalk Empire, South Park, Gossip Girl, Eastbound & Down, The Event, Bored to Death, Parenthood, and all the Mike & Molly fat jokes you can swallow.

· If only Renée Zellweger had the kind of longevity enjoyed by that dreadful NC-17 rating.

· Thanks to this week's interviewees, including Edward Norton, Gemma Arterton, Chuck Lorre, Charles Ferguson, Rob Huebel, Nasim Pedrad, and Verge designee Sarah Butler.

· We enjoyed some MLB playoffs with the weekly Oscar Index.

· A busy week of Two-Minute Verdicts judged the trailers for True Grit, 127 Hours, The Tempest, Faster, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest, and the scary-in-Japan Paranormal Activity: Tokyo Night.

· There were plenty of franchise lessons to be learned in Hollywood, but none were as important as the title of the next Die Hard movie.
