What's On: Joel McHale Leads A Mournful Community

Tonight's Community may force you to reach for your hanky; one of the group's key members suffers a devastating loss. Nothing as painful as that Betty White episode, but pretty doggone close. Elsewhere on TV this evening, Heidi Klum makes demands on Project Runway and Snooki gets annoyed on Jersey Shore.

Community [NBC, 8 PM]

Pierce's mother dies and the group rallies around him in support. I don't think I've ever watched characters extend sympathy towards a Chevy Chase character before, so this might be riveting TV. Check back tomorrow for Christopher Rosen's recap.

Project Runway [Lifetime, 9 PM]

Designer Norma Kamali guest-judges in this oh-so-delicious-sounding episode: The remaining contestants must make a garment for good old Heidi Klum. I expect Teutonic terror of the highest order.

Jersey Shore [MTV, 10 PM]

With Angelina gone, the castmates are left to enjoy being alive. JWOWW and Snooki compromise with Sammi, Vinny goes back to girl-hunting, and The Situation starts to bother Snooki. Oh man. If their irritation mounts and the two smush, will we be forced to watch them make out again? A repeat of their hot tub dalliance from season one? Pray to your local guido god that it's a no.

Alien [TCM, 10 PM]

The ageless Sigourney Weaver fends off against her spaceship's ugly, enormous stowaway in this classic sci-fi/horror treat. The Oscar-winning special effects will gross you out in the most dated, lovable way possible. As usual, all hail Ridley Scott.
