The makers of Paranormal Activity have undertaken the inevitable franchising of their blockbuster horror title not only in America, where it's arguably still scary/creepy, but also in Japan, where a hilariously banal new trailer features legions of petrified young Japanese women reduced to puddles of tears. Why? Your guess is as good as mine.
What am I missing? There must be something in that narration -- perhaps some uneasy truth addressed at this theater full of girls with nary a male in sight: "Your boyfriend wanted to stay home and play video games, leaving you to face the watered-down terror of a Paranormal Activity knock-off all by yourself," perhaps. "You will never be married. This girl in the wheelchair cannot run from her destiny, and neither can you. Shakycam, splitscreen, footsteps, nightvision." This is really the patronizing swill they market to women over there? Ew. Seriously.
VERDICT: Zzzzzz...
