The Hobbit Set Goes Up In Teeny-Tiny Flames

I suppose after such a run of good luck -- your films grossing more than $3 billion worldwide, enough Oscars to goldplate your house and Sean Astin on your speed-dial -- cosmically speaking, you might be due for some bad luck. But man, poor Peter Jackson, is really catching his bad luck in buckets.

After a bankruptcy stall, his original director dropping out and a contentious labor battle in the offing, Peter Jackson is now faced with a destructive fire that ripped through the New Zealand set The Hobbit. No injuries were reported, but the blaze allegedly nearly completely destroyed Jackson's miniatures shop and his specialized miniatures shooting facility, one of the few like it in the world. I think Jackson maybe oughtta give Terry Gilliam a call -- he can walk Jackson through the many steps of grieving over a cursed film shoot.
