Movieline's Week in Review: Why the Long Face?

Another week down at ML HQ, and folks, this was a bit of a rough one. But as with all ruts, time, care and consideration will prove the best remedy. Thus I encourage you to have a look at the latest edition of Movieline's Week in Review. There are glints of hope, signs of progress, and the promise of the future -- and it all starts tomorrow with distinguished weekend editor Dixon Gaines. The rest of us will see you Monday. Have a good one!

· We said way too many goodbyes to the likes of Tony Curtis, Arthur Penn, Gloria Stuart, Greg Giraldo, Stephen J. Cannell and Quentin Tarantino's greatest collaborator, editor Sally Menke.

· The Social Network arrived! And when the critics weren't thwacking each other, swatting away haters and/or texting from the theater, they seemed to really enjoy it!

· Speaking of which, David Fincher's film joined True Grit as the most ascendant Oscar-season titles. Secretariat did its best to catch up.

· Recaps! We have sooooo many recaps, including Mad Men, 30 Rock, Modern Family, Boardwalk Empire, Community, Bored to Death, The Amazing Race, Survivor, Parenthood, Fringe [inhaaaaaale], The Event and Eastbound and Down. Pass the Visine?

· Many thanks to this week's illustrious interviewees, including Maggie Q, David Cross, Stephen Frears, Elias Koteas, Phil Keoghan, Morgan Spurlock, Melissa McCarthy and Verge designee Ben Schwartz.

· So long, Lone Star -- we bare(chested)ly knew ye.

· Despite your first impression, Star Wars will look great in 3-D. Alas, George Lucas will never quite work as an animated gunman.

· A new season of Saturday Night Live called for the brand-new SNL Relevancy Poll. Make your voice heard.
