Perry's film is the long-awaited (and title-truncated) adaptation of the Ntozake Shange play -- or "choreopoem," as it's generally referred to -- For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf, with an ensemble including Janet Jackson, Whoopi Goldberg, Thandie Newton, Kerry Washington, Loretta Devine, Phylicia Rashad, Kimberly Elise and Anika Noni Rose.
