Barack Obama Endorses Jon Stewart's 'Rally to Restore Sanity'

High profile endorsements don't get much higher in profile than this. At small-town gathering yesterday, President Barack Obama singled out The Daily Show host Jon Stewart and his upcoming, Glenn Beck-ian "Rally to Restore Sanity" in Washington, DC on Oct. 30. You'll excuse the president for not getting the name right, however. The dude has plenty on his mind.

Speaking to a living room full of slack-jawed faces (seriously; check out that kid in the navy polo shirt in the video below), Obama commented on the polarizing effect both sides of the media have on our nation, before singling out Stewart.

"I was amused -- Jon Stewart, you know, the host of The Daily Show, apparently he's going to host a rally called something like 'Americans in Favor of a Return to Sanity,' or something like that. And his point was 70 percent of the people - it doesn't matter what political affiliation -- 70 percent of folks are just like you. They go about their business. They work hard every day. They're looking after their families. They don't go around calling people names. They don't make stuff up."

Does this mean Obama plans to attend and "actively not throwing our feces at Tila Tequila"? Fingers crossed. Meanwhile, Stephen Colbert is still holding out hope that John Boehner endorses his "March to Keep Fear Alive" event on the same day.
