Movieline's Week in Review: Let Your Freak Flag Fly

Movieline was in the grip of madness this week, split as we were between two countries and smashed by the speeding onset of the fall movie and TV seasons. It was insane -- but if you could just see the output it yielded, you'd know it was worth it. Oh, wait! You can, here in Movieline's Week in Review. Click through and reminisce, and be sure to stop by this weekend for more of the smooth cultural stylings of Dixon Gaines. Have a good one!

· It was one of the busiest weeks ever for new trailers, during which The Tourist, The Fighter, Saw 3D, For Colored Girls, Hereafter, Country Strong, Mildred PIerce and Casino Jack all received our Two-Minute Verdict.

· It also happened to be one our busiest interview weeks ever (thanks, Toronto), with appearances by Andrew Garfield, Michael Sheen, Malin Åkerman, Mark Romanek, Dustin Lance Black, Bo Burnham, James Gunn, John Cameron Mitchell, Martin Landau, Nicholas Stoller, Allison Scagliotti and Verge designee Bill Skarsgård.

· Speaking of Toronto, it was a doozy this year, with stunning performances, first impressions, adaptation curses, machete maidens, Gallo torment and much, much more.

· Jeremy Renner will be in every movie eventually, but let's talk when he directs himself as well as his Town director Ben Affleck.

· Assuming you're not one of the lucky few to attend the nutso premiere of Oprah's final season, you can always get your fill of crazy watching 2001 with this guy.

· Recaps! We got recaps, including Mad Men, the True Blood season finale, Jersey Shore, Project Runway, Big Brother and Warehouse 13 .

· MTV's Video Music Awards came and went -- and that could have gone better.

· May Conan O'Brien's bearded new show someday be interrupted by a Movieline shout-out the way Jimmy Fallon's was.

    Greetings!
Loved Conan's late night show, and then came the Late Show and he was really
terrible! I would have thought e could see that himself. I guess I would not seek his next show unless there was nothng else available.
