Bachelor Pad [ABC, 8 PM]
The 13 remaining contestants put makeout contests aside (boo) and endure a more emotionally grueling challenge. Furthermore, one couple gets to "take flight." Chris Harrison's diplomatic commentary will be necessary.
The Big C [Showtime, 10:30 PM]
Cathy can't connect deeply enough with her loved ones, so she seeks out a cancer support group. The supporting cast on this show could use some streamlining, but so far Laura Linney is superb in the lead.
Real Housewives of New Jersey [Bravo, 10 PM]
Oh, hell yes. It's part one of the two-part reunion where Danielle Staub wears a ridiculous orange skirt, Andy Cohen is shoved into a chair, and Terese Guidice shrieks at a pitch that only Bravo stars can hear. When it comes to the trashy joy of these specials, we're all prostitution whores.
Platoon [Spike TV, 8:15 PM]
Platoon's a fine war film from the mind of the implacable Oliver Stone -- but does it rank highly against other '80s Best Pictures? I'd put it at about eighth place. It narrowly beats Driving Miss Daisy and The Last Emperor. Mind you, I'd be the weirdo who puts Ordinary People in the top spot over Terms of Endearment.
