Sure, the fall-movie season hype right now orbits a few big festivals and early awards favorites, but let's not get too ahead of ourselves. After all, we've still got Triple Dog* in front of us -- and it looks awesome.
Admittedly, buzz has been slow to mobilize on director Pascal Franchot's teen thriller, and little is known about this since it began making the YouTube rounds nearly 18 months ago. But as best I can tell, this slumber-party-turned-serial-dare-fest-turned-midgrade-Heathers-knockoff is some sui generis schlock, with no less than Scout Taylor-Compton purring verbal bitchslaps like "I guess we're not down, then," and Brittany Robertson as some kind of skater-chick sociopath softie or... something. I have no idea. Flesh is bared, exfoliants are applied, bridge jumps are made -- it is truly baffling, breathtaking stuff.
And it is finally coming to DVD! Sept. 21 is the big day, carefully triangulating the season's teen-woe market opposite Never Let Me Go and It's Kind of a Funny Story. The timing couldn't better. And neither could the trailers, for that matter, with the first dating back over a year but finally posting to Apple this week. Both are below. Choose your favorite and place your orders now. [Thanks to JS for the heads-up.]
*Not to be confused with The Human Centipede's infamous, "sweet little three-dog."
