What's On: Kids in the House

Kids in the Hall try the miniseries treatment on IFC this evening. Can you tear yourself away from Tavis Smiley and Flashpoint to enjoy some north-of-the-border, Lorne Michaels-approved comics?

Kids in the Hall: Death Comes to Town [IFC, 10 PM]

The familiar cast of the legendary Canadian sketch comedy group Kids in the Hall hits the airwaves again in a strangely plotted miniseries centered around the grim reaper. Kevin's my favorite member forever. Sir Simon Milligan is my spirit animal.

Flashpoint [CBS, 10 PM]

White supremacists want to ruin everything, and Team One needs to fend off their threats and bomb scares. Come on, white supremacists aren't this cunning. They're too busy ironing their big fat dresses. Everyone knows that.

Tavis Smiley [PBS, 12:00 AM]

John Mellencamp is welcomed to the program for a performance. Will he bring out India.Arie or any of his old Farm Aid colleagues? Will he bringing a Tasty Freeze treat out on stage? The suspense is ruining my life.

The Last Samurai [Cinemax, 10 PM]

Tom Cruise mesmerizes in the Japanese role of a lifetime, but the real reason to watch is Ken Watanabe, who earned an Oscar nomination for his role as the samurai leader. Cruise spent two years preparing for this role, and he's apparently spending the rest of his career winding down.
