Yes, Conan O'Brien is Releasing a Spoken Word Album

ConanObrienAlbumMad225.jpgAnd you thought that the rockabilly album Conan O'Brien claimed to be making with Jack White in June was just a joke. Not only is it completely real, but it will be released next week alongside an improvised spoken word album where the former Tonight Show host tells you his own version of a scary classic.

Pictured here is the cover for Conan's And They Call Me Mad? album. According to HitFix:

[The album] will be pressed on 7" vinyl and digital; the A-side features O'Brien's improvised spoken word take on the legend of Frankenstein while the B-side is an interview with White Stripes/Raconteurs/Dead Weather/Third Man man Jack White. "Conan O'Brien Live at Third Man" is a 12" LP collection of rock and rockabilly tunes performed by O'Brien and his band, and includes a duet with White on a cover of Eddie Cochran "20 Flight Rock."

Both albums were recorded at Third Man Records and will be available for iTunes purchase early next week.

The words spoken on the album will be "LENO SUCKS!"

  • Nick says:

The album's spookiest part will be when Leno pops out and starts talking about peace and cuckoo clocks.

  • Chip says:

More importantly, WHO CARES? O'Brian is a no talent would have been who has basked in the love of an ignorant sector of the population. But, enjoy, all.

  • FightingChance says:

You know, he says he can't help that his hair does that, but he really can - view some old Late Show clips. Please tame the wave, Conan. The other end of that road is the 'Phil Spectre' and you don't want to go there.

Somewhere Mike Nichols is rolling...his eyes. Hard.

  • Alex says:

It's a shame I'll have to give this a pass if it's not being released on CD. I love the idea that it's coming out on vinyl but have no real way of playing it anymore. And I'd rather watch Jay Leno than support the destruction of physical media by buying a download. If it shows up on CD I'll buy it.

  • jo says:

Alex- they said vinyl and digital, right? So you can just download it, you don't have to get the vinyl.
Pretty impressed with what Conan's been doing since he left NBC.

  • Dawson says:

I can't find the info, but from what I'd read, Conan discovered The White Stripes playing in New York and brought them on his old Late Night show and they'd become friends after that.. Conan then had them on several times throughout the run of his show and I believe they were the last band to play on Late Night before he moved to L.A.
