This fall, Osbourne will act as one of six panelists on The Talk, CBS's daytime chatfest dreamed up by Sara Gilbert and co-starring Julie Chen, Holly Robinson Peete, Leah Remini, Marissa Jaret Winokur, and Gilbert herself. Osbourne, the oldest of the stars at age 57, says she's been around the block enough to add something special to the discussion.
"I'm not looking to shake things up," she told me last week at CBS's Television Critics Association party. "I have more life experience than anybody else there, and my life experiences have been more dramatic than other ladies on the panel. I don't think you'll see anything new about me, just my take on things. I have a really strong sense of who I am and I very strong opinion on life. I'll just be myself."
Still, is there a layer of dubiousness to a talk show centered around four actresses, a Big Brother host, and Ozzy Osbourne's wife? When asked, Osbourne laughed -- with us. "It's only Julie and me that are working right now!" she said, bursting into hysterics. "But no! You must be joking."
As for her favorite contenders on America's Got Talent, Osbourne singled out two of Movieline's favorites as well as a coordinated French upstart.
"There's Fighting Gravity, I love them," she said. "I think they're really, really good. There's Haspop, he's a pop-and-lock dancer from France, he's brilliant. Michael [Grimm], he's a singer. Young guy, accompanies himself on guitar. There some really good people."
Osbourne took no time at all to think of an answer when we asked her to play Movieline's parlor game "My Favorite Scene." When it comes to her favorite cinematic moment in history, one moment of visual splendor stands above the rest.
"You're probably be bored with this, but it's Doctor Zhivago," she said. "There's a scene where they're in the countryside in Russia and spring was starting -- and it was filled with daffodils everywhere. It was just the most unbelievable scene. The cinematography on that movie is just incredible."
We're sure her second favorite is Piers Morgan's Burger King ad.
