Gaspar NoƩ's latest film Enter the Void has been called both a "technical masterpiece" and "unwatchable" -- and that's just here at Movieline. But at least it lets you know what to expect right up front with an already notorious opening-title sequence that has melted thousands of viewers' brains (or at least their monitors) since first appearing online last spring. And now, as if this summer hasn't tested your endurance enough, someone has gone and bundled both the opening and closing credits in one convenient, head-splitting bundle. Got 143 seconds?
IFC Films will open Void in limited release on Sept. 24, but that's no reason to wait to succumb to the flashing, pulsing, squawking, candy-colored assault. (The clip says it's the first two minutes of the film, which is not the case, thank goodness. You'll see if you watch.) It's technically SFW, though withstanding the full sonic impact will no doubt mean alienating any discriminating co-workers within a 20-30 foot radius. I am not exaggerating. Seriously, this is a jackhammer of media; my Monday is devastated. Enjoy!
