Hollywood Ink: Adam McKay Down With The Boys

The Other Guys director meets The Boys... Elisabeth Shue moves into the House on the End of the Street... The Weinstein Brothers keep fighting for Miramax. This and more as Hollywood Ink continues after the jump.

· OK, maybe it wasn't as big as Marvel using Comic-Con to announce that Jeremy Renner and Mark Ruffalo -- as Hawkeye and The Hulk -- would appear in The Avengers, but you knew about that already. Here's something you didn't expect: funnyman Adam McKay (Anchorman, Step Brothers) told the Comic-Con crowd that he has signed on to direct an adaptation of The Boys. The comic follows a group of government agents ("The Boys") who must keep superheroes in line. So, like Watchmen, but not really. [THR/Heat Vision]

· How's this for great casting? Elisabeth Shue will play Jennifer Lawrence's mother in House on the End of the Street, a thriller in the vein of Rear Window. Or, for you folks under the age of 25: a thriller in the vein of Disturbia. [THR]

· Despite reports of their financial demise, the Weinstein Brothers are apparently still battling to re-purchase Miramax from Disney. Though for this to happen they would need the current top bidders (Colony Capital and Ron Tudor) to disappear. Plus, Disney would have to lower their asking price. But otherwise, it's theirs for the taking! [THR]

· Four directors -- Alex Rivera (Sleep Dealer), Tze Chun (Children of Invention), Barry Jenkins (Medicine for Melancholy) and Sean Baker (Prince of Broadway) will bring acclaimed graphic novelist Will Eisner's A Contract With God to cinemas. Hopefully this adaptation of Eisner's work doesn't include Samuel L. Jackson fighting someone with a toilet. [THR]

· Call them SAGTRA? Unions SAG and AFTRA have moved on step closer to a merge that could form a superunion not unlike The Avengers. No date has been set for a vote, but they will meet at a "presidents forum" to discuss establishing a "common vision." [Variety]
