Saw Franchise Set to Go Out With Gruesome, 3D Bang This October

If you believe everyone involved with Saw, star Tobin Bell will never again be forced to answer the question, "What's it like to be the next icon of horror?" Lionsgate has announced that Saw 3D -- the seventh installment in torture porn franchise set for release in October -- will be the last. Well, at least the last until they reboot the thing in 2016. But fear not: Thanks to 3D, expect this edition to be the goriest yet.

Saw 3D -- rejected tagline: "No more Roman numerals!' -- is apparently so violent, disturbing and disgusting that it had to be submitted seven times to the MPAA in order to receive an R-rating. An R-rating it might not have even deserved. Said producer Mark Burg: "I'm surprised we got it. It's more violent than any of them. But it's in 3-D, it answers all the questions, it comes full circle. We have the goods on this one." Awesome! Allow me to start covering my eyes now in preparation.

It isn't all roses for Saw 3D however: Lionsgate blinked and moved the film away from a planned confrontation with Paranormal Activity 2; both films were set to open on Oct. 22, but the studio shifted Saw 3D to the following week. It will now open on Halloween weekend (Oct. 29), a traditionally slow time for box office since kids would rather dress like horror movie icons than watch them on screen.

Still, if that's too long to wait, check out the Saw 3D teaser below. Best part? That poor soul with the circular saw.
