Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark Comic-Con Panel: Guillermo Del Toro Is Scary Filthy

Though Katie Holmes couldn't make it to Comic-Con this year (perhaps spooked by the roaming gangs of pillbox hatted Jackie Kennedys), the director and producer of her next spooky thriller Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, Guillermo Del Toro and Troy Nixey, were on hand to tell all about the scary remake. And boy is Del Toro a delightfully foul-mouthed hobbit. Here are some of his swearingiest best quotes.

As he took his seat at the panel and noticed a handful of Hershey Kisses: "Chocolate, huh? They know how to attract a fat man -- put some fucking chocolate on his seat."

Speaking of how the film stacks up to other horror flicks: "It's hardhitting, it's scary and the ending hits you like a motherfucker. And by the way, if you have any kids here, they should probably leave. This is like a bad Sesame Street -- and the word of the day is 'Motherfucker.'"

Speaking about the reaction from the MPAA: "We are honoring the original (made for TV film) and not fucking chickening out. So they gave us an R rating -- for "persuasive scariness." But I think we are like a pirate fucking ship -- the more Rs, the better."

On how horror movies should be made: "Horror films need to have balls, and they need to be fucking sweaty and wrinkled!"

Reiterating how completely scary his movie is: "This movie is serious as a case of fucking gonorrhea."

Del Toro also show a brief teaser of Don't Be Scared of the Dark, a movie he described as "half-fairy tale, half horror movie," and the prologue to that film. It's very artfully shot and looks to be scary as hell -- if you have any attachment to your teeth, well, get ready to have the fucking shit scared out of you, as Del Toro would say.
