Californication Trailer Promises Sex, Angst and Rob Lowe Love Triangle

The last time you saw Hank Moody, he was being arrested for assault and battery after coming clean to the love of his life about sleeping with her (almost) stepdaughter. Ouch, yes, but according to this new trailer, Showtime's tormented lothario will do a little 'splaining, rebound as he always does, and then return to his hedonistic ways. This time, with Rob Lowe!

Will Hank ever actually have to deal with the consequences of his reckless, sex-addicted lifestyle? Showtime would like to have you think so in this trailer, which features Natascha McElhone as Hank's fed-up longtime girlfriend, Madeleine Martin as Hank's especially angsty teenage daughter and Carla Gugino as a corporate lawyer looking to help Hank navigate the courtroom.

But Californication cannot be all about punishment, so writers are making Gugino's lawyer a "potential love interest," giving Hank a new jailbait brunette to bed and serving up Rob Lowe as a narcissistic movie star whom Hank will no doubt have to fight at some point next season to defend a helpless female's honor. To predict further season four plot twists, refer to Californication's tried-and-true formula: Hank charms. Hank beds. Hank apologizes. Repeat.
