Hollywood Ink: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Gets a Date

Sony gives The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo a date... Katherine Heigl gobbles up another mid-level rom-com... Kenneth Branagh to channel a Hollywood icon. This and more as Hollywood Ink continues after the jump.

· Good news for those of you waiting to see David Fincher's adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo: Sony has set Dec. 21, 2011 for the release of the film. The only problem? No cast. The studio has reportedly signed "test deals" with a cadre of young actresses hoping to play the role of Lisbeth Salander -- among them Emily Browning (Sucker Punch), Rooney Mara (The Social Network) and newcomers Sophie Lowe and Sara Snook -- but nothing is official yet. Also not official? Daniel Craig's involvement. While the star has been in talks for some time to play the male lead, scheduling conflicts might force him to drop out. Developing... though probably not for much longer with that release date and all. [Deadline]

· Katherine Heigl will star in Adaline, "the tale of a beautiful woman, who hasn't aged for 100 years, who meets a man who may risk his life to help her regain her mortality." Now that's a mouthful. Director Andy Tennant, late of The Bounty Hunter will direct, meaning you can probably already plan on skipping this one. [THR]

· You might not remember this, but: when Kenneth Branagh isn't directing Marvel comic book movies, he's an actor. And the acclaimed thespian is currently in talks to play another acclaimed thespian: Branagh might portray Sir Laurence Olivier in the Michelle Williams-led Marilyn Monroe biopic My Week with Marilyn. Just so long as he's done shooting Thor. [/Film]

· Martin Scorsese keeps adding people to The Invention of Hugo Cabret. The always-lovely Emily Mortimer and Michael Stuhlbarg have just signed on to the 3D children's book adaptation. [THR/Heat Vision]

· Does a "fresh take" on the legend of Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde get you excited? Then you're in luck: Cole Haddon is working on an adaptation of the comic The Strange Case of Hyde. [THR/Heat Vision]
