When asked to cite his best performance on The Howard Stern Show and Live with Regis and Kelly, the actor passed over his legendary roles in The Godfather, The Great Santini and The Apostle for his part in the CBS TV miniseries Lonesome Dove. Duvall starred in the Western opposite Tommy Lee Jones, Anjelica Huston and Diane Lane as a former Texas ranger who decides to start the first cattle ranch in the Montana frontier. Below, a scene between Duvall's Gus McCrae and his partner (Tommy Lee Jones) in what is remembered today as one of the best television miniseries of all time.
