Hollywood Ink: Hunchback Gets the Action-Comedy Treatment, Of Course

· Happy Monday! Paramount bought a pitch tweaking elements of The Hunchback of Notre Dame into an action-comedy -- to be co-produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers 3, G.I. Joe). The specific "elements" of writers Will Block and Jake Emanuel's update of Victor Hugo's 1831 novel are not noted, but this should have been the throwback tentpole to reunite Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz. Missed opportunities! Also: WTF??? [Variety]

Brad Pitt gets a new wife for Moneyball, Demi Moore gets a new mother for LOL, and more Hollywood Ink after the jump.

· Better and/or less enervating news: Cold Case star Kathryn Morris is close to nabbing the role of Billy Beane's wife in the forthcoming adaptation of Moneyball. [THR]

· Marlo Thomas has joined the relationship comedy LOL as the mother of Demi Moore's romantically frustrated character -- and thus the grandmother of Miley Cyrus's own romantically frustrated teenager. [Variety]

· Not much else for news today, folks, though this is fun: New Miramax buyer Ronald Tutor set the record straight about perennially troubled David Bergstein's involvement in the deal, which is to say, none: "There's something very nice about (Bergstein) when you meet him, he's very charming. But as I've told him a number of times, he needs to look inward. All the sick things he did, gambling money he didn't have, trying to grow a business he didn't know and borrowing the way he did, and the madness, to sum it up, of what took place, he's got to learn from it because it virtually destroyed him. If you don't learn from your mistakes, you just continue to make them." [THR]
