· Denzel Washington is in talks to join Safe House, Universal's developing thriller about a young intelligence agent in South America who must flee with a prisoner (Washington) when his safe house is besieged. [Vulture]
· Joe Wright (Atonement, The Soloist) is said to be in talks to direct a live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid. More than even the original Hans Christian Andersen tale or Disney's beloved animated film, Wright and his screenwriter Abi Morgan were reportedly inspired by the puppet version currently occupying the stage at the Little Angel Theater Company -- which, coincidentally or not, Wright's father founded.
