Sex and the City Franchise Dead, Says Unreliable Source

You don't need to be Edward R. Murrow to realize that when you see an article -- on the Daily Mail Web site no less -- with the byline, "Mail Online Reporter," facts could be a bit specious. At best. So take out your best grain of salt and prepare to mourn the death of Sex and the City. Turn out the lights, the party's over, etc.

According to the Daily Mail -- reporting, naturally, from a story in Grazia -- the bad box office and scathing reviews have stopped plans for Sex and the City 3. Never mind that Sex and the City 2 has grossed $264 million worldwide and that a third film would probably do about the same... or better, if it was actually any good.

Quoting "industry insiders," Grazia claims that Sarah Jessica Parker is taking this news very hard -- in "tears" over the loss of her franchise. Tears she'll likely wind up wiping away with a paycheck for Sex and the City 3. Still, cut the British tabloids some slack. With Harry Potter ending and James Bond on indefinite leave, what else are they supposed to make up stories about? Oh, that's right: Batman.
