Teehee. Of course not.
If Alicia Keys's tribute medley to herself didn't freeze your face into a wince during last night's BET Awards, Chris Brown achieved the task with his uber-tearful Michael Jackson homage. Oh, the passion! Did you know that "Man in the Mirror" is about Chris Brown's plea for you to like him? Just ask Quincy Jones. Did you know "Billie Jean" is just a metaphor for whatever Chris Brown did to Rihanna? No? It's time to join the times, simpletons. Because these songs may just be tainted forever.
To review: Chris Brown mimicked Michael Jackson's dancing for a few minutes before stalking the stage and pouting while "Man in the Mirror" played. Draw the parallels yourselves, BET analysts. He collapsed and cried too since he's Freddie Mercury sometimes. All he needs now is a ghost-written autobiography titled Kiss Kiss: Chris Brown Approaches Thine Ass, and the redemption is complete. Bravo, sir.
Seriously, what? Nice try, Chris, but your weepy vaudeville antics do not impress the PYTs of America. Stick with an "I Believe I Can Fly" rendition featuring a surprise R. Kelly cameo next time, thanks. Hell, make an appearance in the next 12 installments of "Trapped in the Closet" as the remorseful boyfriend of a stripping midget with swoopy Rihanna hair. But don't discolor the MJ catalog.
Of course, this isn't the end of the Chris Brown comeback blitz. When it comes to nationally televised moments of redemption, I'm sure Chris won't stop 'til he gets enough. Ow!
