The Hobbit Now Has Built Sets, But Still No Director

How important is it for The Hobbit to have a director? Apparently, not very! Despite the fact that Guillermo del Toro fled the director's chair and Peter Jackson doesn't want the gig, the film has still been auditioning actors in Los Angeles like nothing's the matter. Now, new pictures have leaked of The Hobbit's sets, which have already been built in New Zealand.

The photos come courtesy of the German fansite Herr-der-Ringe-Film.de (which I believe translates into "Hitler's Ring Film") and they seem to be missing a little something, don't they? Can someone Photoshop in Brett Ratner and a bullhorn? Thanks, that's much better.

I was just thinking what an interesting concept it is to eliminate the Director from the artistic process. If we could just get rid of these Actors and Writers, maybe we've got something here.

  • I thought they just kept the Shire sets from LotR in anticipation for The Hobbit? Didn't the ANTM contestants go to the hobbit houses this season or something?

Those hobbit holes don't look structurally sound. Maybe Tolkien didn't think it through all the way.

"Hitler's Ring Film" is that an attempt at being funny?
A literal translation is "gentlemen of the rings film".

  • Ringmeister says:

'Herr-der-Ringe' is, literally, 'Lord [of] the Rings.' The German 'Herr' simply means 'Lord' and has absolutely nothing at all to do with that other guy.

I will do it for free!

"Herr der Ringe Film" translates from German to English as, "Lord of the Rings film", but "dummkopf" translates from German to English as...

Good, without Jackson ruining another book maybe we'll get what J.R.R. intended?
