Russell Crowe contemplates an '80s TV reboot, Simon Baker visits the Margin, and more Hollywood Ink after the jump.
· I know, I know -- Russell Crowe was born in New Zealand. But he's got all his professional roots in Oz, and owning a frigging rugby team in Sydney has to count for a lot. In any case, let's focus our frustration where it really matters: Crowe attached to a big-screen remake the old CBS drama The Equalizer, which featured Edward Woodward as a shadowy avenger who squared up his clients' grievances. Crowe would inherit that role and probably walk off the air when some cheeky radio host calls his accent Irish, or something. [LAT]
· Tasmania-born Simon Baker is the latest actor to join Margin Call, an indie about 24 hours in the life of an investment bank during the early days of the our recent financial crisis. Baker will play his department's hard-driving, cutthroat chieftain, bossing around the likes of Kevin Spacey, Zachary Quinto and Stanley Tucci. Paul Bettany is aboard as well as a top-level trader. · Boring old American Patrick Dempsey will star for director Lasse Hallstrom in Tom's Dad, appearing in the tale of a '60s-era Vegas performer adapting to the changing times when his estranged son shows up out of nowhere. Complications ensue. [THR]
