NSFW: Jim Carrey's Gay Sex Scene From I Love You Phillip Morris

Will general audiences in the United States ever see I Love You Phillip Morris, the Jim Carrey/Ewan McGregor gay farce that played at Sundance in 2009? It's looking less and less likely, since despite being released all over the world by now, the film still can't land a U.S. distributor that can actually pay its guarantee. Potentially part of the holdup? This super graphic gay sex scene.

Consider this clip, which leaked to the net this week, the closest thing you may ever get to Phillip Morris. (Goodness knows that after watching these two graphic sexcapades involving Jim Carrey's title character, you'll feature closer to Phillip Morris than you ever could have thought possible.)

UPDATE: Aaaand, the video has been pulled, thanks to a copyright claim from EuropaCorp. It's still up at Queerty, if you want to take a look.

Thanks Kyle, now you made me want to have gay sex. And I'm at work.

    Kyle,
Love you to death, but what in the what are you talking about here? Having seen the film twice now (suck it US audiences!) and having seen my fair share (probably more than?) of porn - both straight and gay - there is no way in Hell that is a fucking "super graphic gay sex scene". Shit, I've seen worse in a David DeCoteau 'film' and that didn't even afford me the decency of actual actors.
    Regards,
    Q.

You have to account for the fact that it involves an A-list actor and nearly a minute's worth of the MPAA's least favorite thing: vigorous thrusting.

  • NP says:

I have to agree with QUIRKY. These scenes are not that graphic. I was expecting some crazy _O Fantasma_ style stuff from your description, but these scenes are tamer than some hetero sex scenes in R rated films. It's just like when _Bad Education_ got slapped with an NC-17... there's a double standard in place: hetero sex scenes are allowed much more leeway (and considered far less dangerous/poisonous) than gay sex scenes, and it's ridiculous.

  • ZOOEYGLASS1999 says:

    This is not graphic.

  • SunnydaZe says:

OMG! Jim Carrey is the next Mike Horner!

  • kalin11 says:

This is nothing compared to the graphic sex on Queer As Folk and have to say they did it much better. Brian Kinney was sex personafied.

  • Jojo says:

Those scenes weren't graphic at all... pretty tame compared to anything in "Mysterious Skin" for example.
The second scene in the prison was more of a comedy bit, and barely showed anything at all. You could get away with a scene like that on network TV.
I thought you Movieline writers were a salty bunch, and I have no idea why you found these clips even remotely shocking or "graphic".

It's not graphic, but it isn't good, either. It seems the controversy over the subject matter is defusing and confusing the fact that - based on trailers only - this film is badly executed. There's a vaguely camp, smug attitude to the acting, and in combination with the dolphin blue jail set, I can't help but observe a retro but meta 'Catch Me If You Can' 'Men Who Stare at Goats' and that other movie with Ewen McGregor and Renee Zellweger sort of vibe from this film. Even the fucking in this scene is sort of fake outrageous, Jimmy Carrey style physical comedy, not especially 'real' at all. This true, real-life tale of psychological shapeshifting and persuasion is fascinating and deserves an early 80's Michael Mann, Brian DePalma or Freidkin treatment inmho. There is no way this is a convincing, persuasive male/male love tale like Midnight Cowboy, le Brokeback, etc. This movie looks like shit.

Actually, the movie is ALL OVER the torrent sites right now. Easy to find. DVD-rips. Everywhere.

  • Mark says:

This is not a graphic sex scene by Hollywood standards - AT ALL.
The issue is that studios are apparently cowards when it comes to depicting gay sex at all.
I'm straight, and it offends the hell out of me that the double standard exists.

    This is graphic, but:
*Sharon Stone showing her pussy in Basic Instinct isn't.
*Any number of actresses during the past 40 years showing their breasts aren't.
*Adulterous, nude and sweaty Patrick Wilson screwing adulterous, nude, sweaty, tits-a-bouncing Kate Winslet every which way to Saturday while their respective toddlers sleep in the next room, in Little Children, isn't.
*Demi Moore and her ridiculous pole dance in that awful film that killed her career wasn't.
What on earth is graphic about either of these scenes, except that it's two men screwing - which, (A) isn't graphic, and (B) no genital contact is revealed.
I propose that what is considered "graphic" about this film is that it hits too close to the bone for American men, who can't get past the fact that they might indeed ENJOY getting it up the bum or down the throat.
And I am an American man.

  • cat says:

Fuck yeah!!! Thats one of the reasons I own all five seasons! I'm a (mostly)straight chick and I get off watching Brian Kinney get off! And the best part...Gale Harold is STRAIGHT! love it!

  • HappilyGay says:

And how many American men do take it up the bum, but never would admit it?

  • Happilymetoo says:

    Dear Happily,
More than you can imagine. I almost never get hit on by gay men...but by straight/bi or curious men...and they love lifting their legs.
